Maspalomas is located at the south east coast of Gran Canaria within the Canary Islands. Famous for it's Sand Dunes and the length of its beaches (a staggering 6km), however it has much more to offer than a day by the sea, although if that's your plan, this is your place !
It is an awesome experience and no photo can do justice to the magnificent Dunes that spread as far as the eye can see.
They are a protected reserve, so no construction is allowed. You are however, free to walk across them.
At each of the main areas you will find both a medical centres and a bars, everything you'd need really for a day out in the sun!
There's also sunbeds and parasols for hire. Lifeguards patrol the beach here and are police patrols which are more as a deterrent against theft.
Maspalomas has an area of apartments, bungalows and hotels around. Every day hundreds of people get from the many hotels and apartments and even from the other side of the island.
With breathtaking views across, is an unforgetable experience. Nothing but golden sands from Faro past Playa del Inglés & San Agustín. If you want to arrive straight to the beach without walking across the dunes, go to "Faro".
The gastronomical supply of Maspalomas very wide and is varied, adapted for all class of taste. It is possible to enjoy from the most exotic international kitchen, to the more traditional canary kitchen.
It's privileged climate, absent of extreme temperatures, allows the practice of almost any activity; sport, cultural or professional like;
sailing, jetsky, diving, fishing, surf, windsurf, climbing, skydiving, golf, tracking cycle tourism, summer university, carnival, shopping, lesiure parks, night life, fairs congresses and conventions.
Just to name some of them.
Beware of the camel excursions that are frequently done around here. You may like to try one yourself and feel like an Arab in an exotic country.
But it doesn't end here. Besides the protected nature reserve of the dunes, Maspalomas boasts top-class hotels and luxury urban estates, and many family attractions.
To be honest there is nothing I can say, you must come and see it for yourself.
