Fiestas, Flamenco & Jazz: Tenerife This Week
This week in Tenerife is a beautiful collision of tradition and creativity. Village fiestas honoring San Isidro Labrador are in full swing across the south, the Auditorio hosts a symphonic treat, and intimate jazz and craft workshops fill the midweek calendar. Whether you're chasing live music, local culture, or hands-on experiences, there's something waiting for you.
HIGHLIGHTS
Fetén Sinfónico at the Auditorio de Tenerife (Tuesday 12 May, from €5)
One of the island's most striking venues plays host to Fetén Sinfónico, a concert that blends folk roots with full orchestral arrangements. If you've never experienced music inside the Auditorio's iconic Santiago Calatrava–designed hall, this is a wonderful excuse. Expect an evening that moves between the intimate and the grand — perfect for music lovers of every stripe.
Fiestas de San Isidro Labrador in Granadilla & Arguayo (ongoing through the week, FREE)
May means San Isidro season in Tenerife, and this week the agricultural patron saint is celebrated with gusto. In San Isidro de Granadilla and the hillside village of Arguayo, expect decorated ox carts, folk music, traditional food stalls, and romerías where locals dress in their finest regional costumes. These fiestas are the real Tenerife — warm, communal, and deeply rooted in the land.
Jazz Café – Enrique Thompson & Revirado Project (Wednesday 13 May, €5)
Midweek culture doesn't get much cooler than this. The Espacio Cultural CajaCanarias in Santa Cruz hosts an intimate jazz session with Enrique Thompson and the Revirado Project. At just five euros, it's one of the best-value nights out on the island — grab a seat early and settle in for soulful improvisations in a beautiful cultural space.
Circo Francia (Tuesday 12 May onwards, €10)
Families, take note: Circo Francia sets up near Erjos for a run of shows that bring classic circus magic — acrobats, clowns, and spectacle — to the northwest of the island. It's a fun outing for kids and grown-ups alike, and a refreshing change of pace from beach days.
QUICK PICKS
Xente y La Banda takes the stage at the historic Teatro Leal in La Laguna on Wednesday (€10) — a lively night of live music in one of the island's most charming theatres. Over in Candelaria, Monday is packed: a Talk and Workshop on the Timple introduces students to the island's beloved small guitar, while an Over-50s Tournament adds some friendly sporting competition. Creative types should look at Wednesday's lineup in Candelaria and Tacoronte, where you can craft a handmade notebook, learn to dress in traditional Canarian costume, or join the free Entreversos poetry workshop. The Ole Flamenco Show at GF Hotel Victoria continues through the week for anyone craving passionate guitar and dance. And don't miss the ongoing art exhibitions — Dokoupil's abstract paintings at Instituto Cabrera Pinto and Cándido Camacho's "Rituals of Desire" at TEA are both worth a visit.
FIESTAS STILL ROLLING
The May Festivities in Santa Cruz and Los Realejos continue with free events across both towns, while the Fiestas de Los Menores and the celebration of Nuestra Señora de Fátima in Valle de San Lorenzo keep the south buzzing with processions, music, and community spirit.
All of these events — and many more — are pinned on our interactive map so you can plan your week by location. Zoom in on your corner of the island, tap what catches your eye, and let Tenerife surprise you. There's always more happening than you think.
