Jazz al Aire Libre - Lusofonías, at Teatro El Sauzal. Lusofonías is a jazz fusion band made up of musicians from the Canary Islands jazz scene. The performers immerse themselves in the roots of popular Cape Verdean, Brazilian, Angolan, and Portuguese music, crafting their own hybrid compositions. The band has been warmly received wherever they have played — and it is worth noting that Portuguese cultural influence remains very much alive in the Canary Islands, even in local speech. Their proposal is particularly innovative in the way it fuses Lusophone popular music with jazz and improvisation through a distinctly Canarian sensibility.
