Festival Flamenco Romí 2.0 — The Scent of Granada: The Caves of Sacromonte. The essence of Granada will fill the Teatro Leal as, for the second time, Festival Flamenco Romí 2.0 brings to the Leal's stage the purest, most traditional flamenco from Granada's Sacromonte. The company of dancer Alba Heredia and Robert Moreno, accompanied by a top-tier flamenco sextet, will conjure the magic of the Cuevas del Sacromonte — caves that since the 16th century sheltered Muslims and Jews expelled from their homes. Over the years, these caves became the cradle of artists and bohemians who gave rise to the "zambras," the birthplace of flamenco in Granada. That very spirit will flood the Leal. Alba Heredia was born in Sacromonte, in "la cueva de La Rocío," granddaughter of La Salvaora. She was baptised by the Duchess of Alba and took her first steps as a dancer at just 4 years old. She has the privilege of belonging to one of the most important dynasties in the flamenco world: the Maya family, having grown up alongside giants such as Mario Maya, Manolete and Juan Andrés Maya — a lineage that leaves an unmistakable mark. After performing on the world's most prestigious flamenco stages, in 2015 she won the coveted "El Desplante del baile flamenco" prize at the Festival del Cante de Minas, considered one of the most important and prestigious events in the flamenco world, held in La Unión, Murcia.
