José Aguiar Exhibition

A retrospective exhibition dedicated to the Gomera-born artist José Aguiar (1895–1976), marking the fiftieth anniversary of his death. His work belongs to an expressionist figurative tradition encompassing genre scenes, allegory and heroic themes, with a strong interest in the human figure, landscape and portraiture. The exhibition also contextualises his output within the cultural framework of the dictatorship.
