free events
You do not need to spend a cent to enjoy Tenerife’s vibrant cultural life. The island offers a generous selection of free events every week — from open-air concerts in municipal plazas and free museum exhibitions to community sports events and traditional fiestas.
Many of the best experiences on the island are completely free: Carnival parades, romerías, gallery openings, sunset concerts, and cultural workshops funded by local municipalities and the Cabildo.

Where to find free events every week
Free events follow a predictable weekly pattern in Tenerife: Friday night plaza concerts in nearly every municipality (Plaza del Charco, Plaza de España, Plaza del Adelantado), Saturday markets with live music (Mercado de Núñez de la Peña, Mercadillo de El Rastro, Tegueste), Sunday free guided tours at TEA, and free museum days across Cabildo-funded institutions. During fiesta weeks, every concert, verbena and parade is free.
Summer adds open-air cinema in several municipalities (Adeje, Santa Cruz, Puerto de la Cruz) and beach-front DJ sessions sponsored by the Cabildo. Christmas brings free nativity displays (belén viviente), choral concerts in churches, and the massive free San Silvestre run in Santa Cruz on December 31.
Free museums, galleries and outdoor art
All Cabildo-funded museums and cultural centres in Tenerife are free at all times: TEA, MUNA (Natural History & Archaeology), Museo Militar, Museo de la Ciencia. The Centro de Fotografía Isla de Tenerife and all municipal galleries are always free. Outdoor art includes the sculptures by Henry Moore and Joan Miró along the Rambla de Santa Cruz, and the Auditorium’s architecture itself (Santiago Calatrava).
